On Saturday, December 20, for four hours, Sohrab Haghverdi, Benjamin Rosenthal, and I will perform Super Compassionate.
Super Compassionate is a performance-art meditation in which three entirely naked Trumps stumble through sacred and profane gags. A recurring assassination bit finds the Donalds unable to decide who is the assassin, who is the target, and who is the witness. The work is inspired by the Buddhist sutra of Captain Super Compassionate.
Super Compassionate unfolds in four cycles, beginning on the hour, every hour, from 6:00pm through 10:00pm. Each cycle is improvised anew, lasts 45 minutes, and is followed by a 15 minute break. Please plan to arrive during the breaks, and feel free to stay for one cycle or many.
This four-cycle presentation is an experiment toward a longer eight-cycle iteration.
